Our neighbour Jan, a keen photographer, took us into town to photograph the "William Jolly Bridge" that is lit up. Being close to the art galleries, the bridge displays works of art. This week it is celebrating the opening of ‘The 9th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT9) at QAGOMA, the bridge will be exhibiting artist Monira Al Qadiri’s ‘DIVER’ .
On the way back to the carpark I stopped for a silly photo.
We arrived early to check out the best place to stand to take the shots. Down on the river bank or on the next bridge, the Kurilpa pedestrian bridge.
Lots of color in these photos!
ReplyDeleteGood God - the council has gone mad with colouring the city sights up.
ReplyDeleteThose poinciana trees are almost as bad as the jacarandas with their droppings.
A street cleaner's nightmare!
Great photography as always, Diane.

Lovely photos and well worth that long walk which you are lucky you can still go far.
ReplyDeleteVery colourful bridges though...love the first photo, my favourite.
Worth the effort, for sure. I really like the clean lines of the Victoria Bridge. It is rather different to the old Victoria Bridge.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and the bridges look great.
ReplyDeleteThe red Free is fantastic i have never sen that tree
ReplyDelete5, 10 and 13 are my favorites. they are all Stunning, no wonder you went to take photos. amazing night shots. LOVE the silly photo, great idea, both putting you behind the bike and the fact the bike is there... you outdid yourself on the photograph skills
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job, they look all wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello, looks like a wonderful outing for the photographer. The light at night are beautiful, I love the colorful bridge and the poinciana trees. Beautiful post and photos. Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, the bridges looked spectacular, specially the William Jolly bridge.
ReplyDeleteThe poinciana tree looks great.
The colors are wonderful -- bridge AND trees! Great photos. I wonder if the bridge is always lit in colors or if this was a special thing. Imagine living there where you could see it every night!
ReplyDeleteYea they are lit every night but for different reasons and in different colours.
DeleteGosh Diane, these are all fabulous photos. How nice to see it all in person!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed a nice lie-in the next morning ;D)
I can understand why your legs were tired, but your night photos are absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots but I can’t go past the natural beauty of the red tree.
ReplyDeleteI shall join in the general praise of the results of your efforts.

So beautiful. I love reading about your adventures together ... and seeing your photos. Except I’m envious of your talent! Night photography is difficult. It really is a lot about where youposition yourself for the perfect shot isn’t it. Thank you for sharing the amazing results of all those steps. I can well believe your legs were tired!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these photos. We only had one day in Brisbane and I have alwasy said it was my favourite Australian city but we never had to time to see enough of it. Have a great week t'other Diane
ReplyDeleteOh I love all your photos Diane. Very beautiful. What is the tree with the red blossoms near the bridge?
ReplyDeleteYour photos are wonderful, I can feel the atmosphere of the lights ! I hope that the hanging bike is not part of modern art, that wouldn't surprise me !
ReplyDeleteIncredible - Well Done
ReplyDeleteCheers
Your photographs are WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing every one of them.
All the best Jan
Wow, these are some amazing scenes! That red tree is simply fabulous--I've never seen anything like it!
ReplyDeleteDiane, I am rather envious of these wonderful photos. Yu certainly got some great ones both in daylight and in the evening. I wondered if you handheld your camera or used a tripod and what settings you used as I have never had much success with outdoor evening shots.
