A DOUBLE CELEBRATION DAY

This post is a bit late but better late than never. On 10 May it was Mother's Day but it was also our 46th wedding anniversary so we thought this deserved a nice lunch out. We went to our favourite restaurant in Brisbane even though it is on the other side of town.
It is 'Des Alpes' a Swiss Restaurant operated and owned by our friends Monique and Nick.

Even though it was a warm Autumn day we opted to sit inside.

The food is cooked to perfection. I had Chicken Florentine.

 Bill had salmon

Still smiling after 46 years of marriage while we savour a delicious Tiramisu. We are fatter, wrinklier and have poorer eyesight than when we had dinner together forty six years ago.
My taste in drinks has improved. I prefer a red wine now rather than the Sherry I have here. Bill had a Swiss beer instead of the San Miguel in PNG.

  1. Love the comparison photo. Many congratulations and may I say you look as happy today as you did then.

  2. Good one Diane.
You still are just like that first one with the - good God - sherry - YUCK YUCK!
and the San Miguel for Bill.
Thank God for the red wine change, eh?
But nothing wrong with Bill and the good ole San Mig!
I loved that beer in my PNG days. Ordered in by the cartons from
BP's in Lae! Oh funny days way back then.
Far better than that "whatever" it was called - SP Greenie or Brownie stuff????
    Cheers
    Colin

  4. You are one year ahead of us ! Congratulations, we become rare species ! Aren't this röstis served with your food ? I love them. When we had our wedding anniversary last year, I wanted to invite all couples still married after 45 years. I found only one couple all the others were widowed or divorced !

  10. Delightful. I am quite impressed that you could get the rather good San Miguel in PNG back then. It is certainly superior to Australia's basic beers. Who could have imagined how your life would turn out to be forty six years later.

May 10 is always a reminder of the mother I miss so much. She would have been 100 on June 10 this year.
