It was our friend, Paul's birthday a few weeks ago but we only celebrated with Birthday Bear recently. Paul chose to go to Morgan's Seafood Buffet at Scarborough. As it is quite a long drive north of Brisbane we all stayed overnight at the Scarborough Beach Resort.
It was a happy occasion because we are so lucky to have Paul still with us to celebrate his 78th birthday. He has been suffering with Mesothelioma Cancer for 4 years. Very few sufferers last longer than 18 months. He is such a champion fighter even though he is in constant pain. Here he is enjoying his seafood buffet.
After dinner when we arrived back at the units, Birthday Bear was waiting to help Paul do some jigsaw puzzles. Paul enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles and he can do them very quickly. So Bear brought along quite a few to keep them both busy for a while.
After we checked in we explored the units and had afternoon tea. Here we admired???? the painting on the wall with ' tongue in cheek.'
This was my choice.
Paul couldn't wait to get started. Mary was the one who chose Bear's outfit and accessories this time. To find out more about our Birthday Bear Tradition read Birthday Bear's Blog
We had tea, cake and a happy time chatting before retiring.
That was lovely to get together and have a great time by the smiles on everyone's faces.
ReplyDeletea very happy birthday wished to him (belated, of course). i LOVE jigsaw puzzles! when my sis comes to visit, we break out several and spend hours at the kitchen table putting them together and just talking and breathing the same air. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI love your Birthday Bear expeditions and celebrations. What a great choice by Paul, as a seafood restaurant would be my choice too as would those jigsaw puzzles
ReplyDeleteYour Birthday Bear is a great tradition. Wishing Paul a very happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThat seafood meal looks fantastic! I love your birthday bear tradition. A very happy birthday to your friend Paul.
ReplyDeleteHappy b/day Paul. You have good taste in the food department - on this weekend in the dining section of the "Qld paper - C/Mail" - this Morgan's Seafood restaurant was given a very, very high rating state wide. I think in the top 20.
ReplyDeleteScarborough !!! Diane when you wrote you all overnighted and is was a long drive, I thought that there must be two Scarboroughs in Qld - this one is on the Redcliffe Peninsula - I reckon you all just wanted a weekend by the sea, eh??
Smart choice.
Cheers
Colin
It is a long way home after dinner and drinkies.
DeleteHappy birthday to Paul! I hope he continues to do well! Looks like a wonderful meal! A fun birthday celebration! Enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteOk that painting on the wall is that what some people call art I could do that................lol
ReplyDeletePuzzles always look good but I don't have the patience for them
I always look forward to seeing who Birthday Bear will be going to next. A happy belated birthday to Paul, what a trooper he is and I wish him the very, very best. I love putting puzzles together, though the ones I do are more online these days. I ought to get some of my old ones out. Looks like a lovely resort and I enjoyed the yummy looking food. I'm hungry again ;)
ReplyDeleteSuch a blessing that Paul has been fighting mesothelioma so successfully! A wonderful birthday celebration indeed! Loved the photos. The one of you guys discussing that complicated painting was pretty funny! :-) Nice-looking hotel, and oh that food! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Paul was able to enjoy his birthday celebration with Bear and the rest of you. I will admit that I don't think much of the 'painting' you were enjoying, but it does look as if you stayed in a beautiful place. The seafood looked delicious.
ReplyDeleteSo neat that Paul was there and feeling good enough to enjoy his birthday party... Looks like a great seafood buffet... AND--that area looks neat... I'm sure all of your enjoyed your time together. Tell Paul that he looks WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
You got me in. I was wondering why bear was puzzled.
ReplyDeletePuzzles are good, as are crosswords, as is blogging. Good for the brain, and light on the energy output. Has Paul tried a Wasgij?.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely time it looks like you had! Love Birthday Bear and his tradition.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all ha a great time. Did you get my email and did I answer the right thing? Take care t'other Diane
ReplyDeleteSorry new computer I have to hit the keys hard and I keep missing letters!! Had a great time.
DeleteHappy belated birthday to Paul! He looks great. Hope he continues to battle and win.
ReplyDeleteI love jigsaw puzzles, too, and do several a day on my ipad. Less mess. :)
Paul chose the venue well ... seafood and looks like it's straight from the sea. I would like to dip my finger in that deep rich seafood sauce ... Yumm!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great tradition the birthday bear. Lots of healing thoughts to Paul and so great to hear that he is so brave and strong
ReplyDeleteYour friend is very brave and a true fighter. Good for him for not giving in. Dinner looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteDiane, there is nothing better than sharing special celebrations, good times and delicious food with long time friends. You always show us that yiu and your friends know how to keep this tradition going strong. Belated birthday wishes to yiur friend, Paul, and hope he enjoys those puzzles.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Paul. I was just wondering how he was doing when I saw this post. I did a double take at that painting! Great post of friends who love to celebrate special occasions together. May Paul continue to go from strength to strength.
