We flew to Adelaide for a few days for a special event which has been cancelled due to ill health so we are playing the tourist. The trouble is the weather is windy and cold. We are not used to these temperatures coming from Queensland. Anyway we had a walk around the city today.
The Adelaide Arcade is beautiful. We are staying at the InterContinental Hotel. We walked across the new bridge over the Torrens River and looked back towards the CulturalCentre and our hotel.

The arcade is beautiful. We left it by a side exit and walked away from the mall and became thoroughly lost.
ReplyDeletewelcome to adelaide Diane and Bill. sorry about the weather :)
ReplyDeleteBad misfortune with the intended reunion. You sure have good accommodation - Wow!
ReplyDeleteAdelaide is a lovely city and free public transport for Seniors! But winter and summer are not the best times to visit. Winter - the freezing winds from the Southern Ocean and then Summer - you cook!
Have fun with the art galleries!
Lucky you! Adelaide is one capital city I have yet to visit and I see it made the top ten cities to visit list. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely arcade.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time.
The Arcade is beautiful. I hope you enjoy your visit to Adelaide. Lovely photos, thanks for sharing. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe Arcade has a lot of character - enjoy your stay!
ReplyDeleteOh that is a gorgeous place I would love to be in your luggage. Hug B
ReplyDeleteAll of the cities seem to have one lovely arcade like this. You sure did pick a bad week to travel south.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joan: no week for venturing south! Have to say that I want to go th Bathurst and the best time for the household is toward the end of September. Which will be equally freezing.
ReplyDeleteI remember that arcade I once visited. It is beautifull.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will still have fun exploring the city, even though your event was cancelled and the weather is cold. I love the storefronts in the Arcade.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane
ReplyDeleteHere is your chance to hire a car and head out to Annie's Lane vineyard and stock up your cellar. Today has been a little cool and more cooler (or cold) weather is expected this weekend. Time to get the slow cooker out to make beef and vegie soup. Enjoy Adelaide.

How strange, I just can't get used to the idea of "cold", "wet" or "windy" being used in the context of your country. Whatever the weather, they are great pictures.
ReplyDeletesorry about the cancelled event! hope the person gets better. at least you're making the most of your visit there.
ReplyDeleteThe arcade looks very interesting. I didn't get to see Adelaide when I was in Aus. Maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks not too bad Queensland must be tropical.
ReplyDeleteThe arcade is gorgeous. We have a little one like that since last year. Anyway enjoy your stay
Looks very modern.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
I don't think I have ever been to Adelaide but of course I would like to go there some day
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely City but if I were ever to move to Australia I'd definitely pick somewhere near where you live, since it is warmer, weather wimp that I am.
ReplyDeleteSorry the special event was cancelled.
Adelaide is a lovely city however I haven't been there in winter. A drive to Victor Harbour could still be interesting and lunch at one of the wineries satisfying. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDespite the chilly temps you mentioned, the scenery looks great. Playing the tourist is always fun when traveling as long as there is no time limits.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very modern town ! Windy and cold is not the ideal weather to walk around. Sorry that your family meeting was cancelled !
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of my home town Diane. Sorry we haven't turned on better weather for you. Get well wishes to your family member.
