I am sorry to be missing my blog friends post. I am still on the go, fixing up old posts by replacing photos so that the posts can be printed into a book. It is tedious, boring work. Anyway I had a break last Monday and we went to GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art). We went with our camera club and met hundreds of children there because it is school term break at the moment.
The Asia Pacific Triennial Exhibition is on at the moment and the most popular installation is "Falling Back to Earth" by Chinese artist, Cai Guo-Quang.It is made up of 4 installations ; "Heritage," "Eucalyptus," "Tea Pavillion" and "Head On."
Here is a glimpse of some:
'Heritage' is 99 animals from around the world gathered to drink from a single waterhole. It symbolises a 'perfect paradise'. It is very quiet and calming in this room. The animals are standing on sand.
'Head On' is made up of 99 wolves hurling themselves into the air, only to hit a glass wall and fall to the ground and then they return to the beginning. It forms a vertical loop of animals as compared to 'Heritage' which is a horizontal ring of animals. It was originally made for Germany's Guggenheim Gallery. This piece represents Berlin's turbulent history. The Glass wall represents the Berlin Wall.

ReplyDeleteWhen all done, it will be worth it :)
I love this exhibit., the art and the message. Nice photos, too.
ReplyDeletei love that first shot with the animals drinking, i would have to by pass the wolves, can't stand looking at it in the photos...painful to me...but the rest of it i would love
ReplyDeleteoh, my. the 2nd exhibit is startling compared to the peace in the first.
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a visually stunning exhibition this is, and you have captured it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteP.S Tell me some specifics of the problems you are having with your macro and I'll see if I have any ideas for you.
Those exhibits are amazing, Diane. I am stuck on the first one showing all of the animals drinking together in a common waterhole... Reminded me of PEOPLE.. Wonder if we will ever accept each other and get along ---and can form that perfect 'paradise'? Wouldn't that be fantastic??? (I can hope, can't I? ha)
ReplyDeleteHave you all heard of or seen Anthony Warlow in concert there? He's an Aussie --and has one of the best voices I have EVER heard. He's a musical theater/opera-type guy... AMAZING voice.
Hugs,
Betsy
These two exhibits are fantastic. I especially like the Heritage presentation.

Amazing
ReplyDeleteI am doing the same, correcting old posts and replacing pictures if necessary, I only do it when I have time and lately I haven't continued at all ! I also want to have it printed into a book.
ReplyDeleteThis Exhibition is just unbelievable, must have been so interesting to see !
I am sorry I missed the visit to GOMA with the camera club. After seeing your wonderful pictures I intend going on Wednesday. Glad to read that these pieces have been purchased and will now call Queensland home.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to put things in a book too Diane but haven't made the jump yet. One of these days as I have been reading Debbie's blog (It's All About Purple) and a few posts back she had done the same thing, in fact had printed many books from her blog which I found very encouraging. And so I shall be very interested in yours when you get it all done. Lovely post here, that exhibition is very impressive. Have a great week ahead and a Happy Sunday to you :)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the 'Heritage' installation especially. Those reflections are beautiful too :D)
ReplyDeleteWow some gorgeous shots there Mum, especially love the reflection one! It's an interesting exhibition- we really enjoyed it too. X
ReplyDeleteTaking a break from tedious projects is always a good thing to do. Your time off looked like a fantastic adventure. Many of the modern art museums I have visited have contained paintings and I much preferred these exhibits and the messages behind them. Enjoy your weekend.

ReplyDeleteThat is really unusual! I wish you well with your book; that is a lot of work rescanning photos and reposting them but it will be wonderful when you have it in book form.
