The Queen Street Mall in Brisbane City is an open air mall stretching for two blocks. It is the hub of the CBD. It has department stores, restaurants, and variety shops. Many of the old original facades have been kept in front of the modern stores behind them.
Gardens are scattered throughout the mall.
This beautiful flower is Anthurium.
Some old timers busking with their banjos outside Louis Vuitton. They have got style. Buskers have to get a permit from the council to busk in the mall.
That beautiful waxy flower is Anthurium ;) What a lovely Mall for the very well heeled!
ReplyDeleteYes, Desiree has hit it on the head. Those gorgeous red blooms are Anthuriums. What a fabulous display they make as a massed planting.
ReplyDeleteI'll be down there for the long weekend, so I'll have to go and check out the Mall!!!
It is a very nice looking mall.

ReplyDeleteWhen I go into the CBD, I stand in awe of those two old musicans. They are great - real honky tonky music. I wish they were on stage. They make music and they LOVE what they are doing. Great old blokes giving life to that Mall.
Cheers
Colin
Qeen Street mall is a gem ... everything Pitt Street Maill doesn't manage to be.
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful plants in your mall. These one's we never see here in public areas, only in flower shops.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very nice mall, the flowers are gorgeous and how nice to have the banjo entertainment.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, beautiful Anthurium blooms. Almost plastic-looking so perfect are they. I commented on Bill's blog earlier and couldn't upload the comment. Dopily I thought i was on your blog and mailed you my comment. Please let Bill know. major senior moment! Have a great weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteSee someone knew what it was called I am not one of those as I had no idea but it is a lovely photo anyway.
ReplyDeletea great mall, and i really like that last shot a lot.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the mall Diane, and of those Anthuriums. The last time I saw any of those was on my last trip to California.
ReplyDeleteCan't remember the correct name of that flower but the nickname is "little boy". Seriously. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that would be a good place for me to do portraits. I've got a buskers permit. I wonder if they would let me use it there? Bit of a hike though. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to people watch - and you have a Louis Vuitton in Brisbane!! I love the buskers in the shopping malls they add to the atmosphere! Lovely shots
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, I'm still trying to keep my head above water as I adjust to my New Zealand home. We are having a fabulous time, and are learning and doing so much. I thought it would be hard leaving the US right after winter, only to come here at the beginning of winter, (thus skipping spring and summer), but NZ is so green and beautiful, I haven't noticed! Hopefully I can stay better connected with my blogging buddies as life settles to a routine. I've missed reading about all your many adventures. I LOVE your header and I really love the last photo in this series. What a great composition!
ReplyDeleteIt must be lovely shopping in such a pleasant mall Diane - thanks for your visit.
ReplyDeleteBrisbane is a gorgeous city, Diane. Beautiful Mall... The plants are so pretty--and looks like something we have seen at the Biltmore House and Gardens. BEAUTIFUL...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
This is a beautiful mall. I think even I would enjoy visiting this shopping center.
ReplyDeleteI like Malls, especially here when the weather is bad and rainy, you sit and watch people or you just stroll around. This mall looks beautiful with the trees and flowers. I have seen these red flowers in pots and very expensive, but I don't know the name either !
ReplyDeleteI love most of malls.
ReplyDeletethis is a great mall.

I like that the old original facades are retained - keeps the character alive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful plants and music certainly make the mall a pleasant place to be.
Interesting to see an Australian Mall. The same the world over I think.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, I don't enjoy malls. But this one looks very appealing. Great pics! ...Marsha
ReplyDeleteI love this tropical plant. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThree posts at once -- slow connection while traveling. Lovely b-d post for your lovely daughter! And you did a great job on the b-d bear for your friend.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful mall; I got a kick out of the stylish buskers -- i love street entertainers.
Have a great trip
