A few weeks ago I received a text message from my niece in UK. She said her partner and she were visiting Australia, the first time in many years. Liz, my late brother's daughter and her partner, David. David had never been to Australia before. They flew into Melbourne where they hired a car and started an amazing journey. They visited relatives in Melbourne and drove to South Australia and visited relatives in Adelaide then back to Melbourne and north to the border of NSW where her brother lives in Wodonga. Then they tackled the long long trip from Melbourne to Brisbane to visit us. David was sure getting a good look at Australia. Finally they arrived at our place where they stayed for a few days before continuing north to the Sunshine Coast. Then they return to Brisbane to fly back home next week. It was so nice to see them. I hadn't seen Liz for many decades.
They were only here for a few days. We managed to show them the Gold Coast and Mt Tamborine.
After lunch we drove into the hinterland and up to Mt Tamborine.
An excellent itinerary to get a real feel of life in Oz. Your 3 days with Liz and David would have flown all too quickly.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been so nice to see them after such a long time. While it defies logic, when someone mentions a niece or nephew, I always think of a young person.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all enjoyed the visit!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteNice photo of the four of you. I am sure it was great to see your niece. The photos are beautiful.
Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
The best way to travel to a new country is to see it through the eyes of close relatives and friends. Melbourne, Adelaide, Wodonga, Brisbane etc sounds like a great programme, highlighted by family dinners.
ReplyDeleteMy best ever tour of New York was staying with an aunt and uncle, and going on great tours of the state from their place.
Beautiful scenery which I'm sure David enjoyed. I still remember how much I enjoyed seeing the entire east coast of Australia well at least from Port Douglas in the north to Sydney in the south. Everywhere was fantastic. It was exciting for you and Bill to have visitors from so far away too.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a relative etc visit and stay a little while and you both to show them around.
ReplyDeleteThe beaches look good, Diane. Lovely photo too.
I will never get to tour your country, but I wish I could.. Your photos make it look just like Florida and a lot of other places here and I fell in love with Austrailia when I fell in love with the movies Crocodile Dundee..
