Every Friday evening a band of volunteer residents organize Happy Hour in the Community Centre. Last Friday they celebrated St Patrick's Day at Happy Hour. They advertised it as 'Fantastic St Patrick's Friday' on our residents email. The village singers sang Irish songs, the compare told Irish jokes, we had a trivia session and the line dancers danced to Irish music. The workshop boys cooked hamburgers for tea (not quite Irish).
The centre filled with residents dressed in green. They got their drinks from the volunteer bar boys.Patrick McLaughlin far left really enjoys St Patrick's Day celebrations. Can you guess why?I'm sort of the village photographer and I circulate taking photos and videos of the tables and entertainment. The photos go onto posters on the wall of the centre and Elements Retirement Living at Springwood FB page as well as the newsletter. Unfortunately, the editor of the newsletter resigned and we haven't a replacement yet. Anyway, as I took a photo of this table, Steph said to me, " Here sit in my seat and let me take a photo of you. You never get yours taken."
Everyone looks lovely in their green. The photos are nice and it looks as if all enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun party for St. Patrick's Day! Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeletethat was so nice of her, she is right, you rarely get in the photos. I prefer being behind the lens over in front of it.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you take lots of the photos for everyone to enjoy! And I love that you got into the photo too. You were having such fun! We need to go shopping for green tops. I never wear green and don't think I have one! Hugs, Diane in Florida
ReplyDeleteY'all have too much fun! And an excellent photographer to document it. Glad somebody thought to take a picture of her too! It's good to see you.

You're always having such fun events in your community.
ReplyDeleteI love that everyone gets in the mood and dresses up for your Friday specials.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about St Patrick's Day, but I love to see people socialising around fancy clothes, food, drinks and entertainment. Great fun !
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and I do love the Green. It was good to see you in a photo too. Looks like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I love how fun it looks.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cakes look delicious!
Happy Weekend!
Donna
Now that looks like a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat looks nice your St. Patrick festivities, ours was not so good as people don't know it, nobody was dressed in green, they didn't know, and the two youngsters who played the Irish music were not in green either. I was a little disappointed. BTW how are you, is it better, because you participate in all activities or at least a lot !
ReplyDeleteGood to see you in that last shot and how sweet of Steph to make sure you got your photo taken. A belated Happy Birthday to Ruth also. Great photos of another fun event. I see a lot of people wore their green, and a lot of smiling faces attest to the fact that it was another wonderful celebration. I leave smiling, thanks Diane :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous celebration of St Patrick's Day. I am impressed with all the green chairs and decorations, along with the entertainment!
