HERE WE GO AGAIN

South East Queensland has gone into lockdown. We have cases of the dreaded Delta strain found its way into some of our schools, which means there are thousands of contacts to trace and isolate. It originated from two overseas travellers who caught it in a quarantine hotel. (There is outrage here about using hotels for quarantine rather than purpose built facilities). Lockdown doesn't bother Bill and I too much, we can find things to do at home. However, I do miss my morning walk with friends. So, wearing my mask, I go by myself into the forest and enjoy the peacefulness of nature.

The wild flowers are starting to bloom.

Even the bushes are wearing masks.

Australia's national flower, Wattle.

A tree fell across the trail so the rangers cut out the offending part and left the rest to rot.

Ah downhill to home. I have bursitis in my hip at the moment and it makes walking up and down hills difficult but I love walking in the forest.

  1. My mother has bursitis. Not great, but keep on moving. Full wattle bloom! I don't think that has happened here yet, but it must be close. I noted today that vaccination rates in your part of the state are on the low side.

    1. Yes because we didn't have any outbreaks for a while people got complacent.

  2. Hi Diane, I am very sorry you are in lockdown again but glad you can still get out and walk. We have surges here too. It is all very worrying. These photos are beautiful and what a great place to spend time, that wildflower is stunning. I enjoyed finding out that the Wattle is your National Flower. It's very pretty. The one of the mask hanging from the branches, you’ll look back on that and well, it’s already part of history and a sad sign of the times. Sorry to hear about your bursitis too, and hope you feel back to 100 percent real soon.

  5. A lovely walk, and I'm sorry to hear about your hip problem. We have many cases of the Delta strain in our state and especially our county, but no lockdown. Bob and I have remained mostly in isolation and have always worn masks when we run errands. Stay safe and be careful.

  6. Good that you can get out for some kind of exercise during lockdown. I wish our government had been as vigilant in enforcing controls at an early stage.

  7. Drat to that shutdown once again, Diane, but good for you that you are getting out for walks. Often solitary walking is the best way to see things that would otherwise be missed as the little things that we see more when alone.

  13. So sorry to hear about lockdown Diane, it seems we will all be in danger of continuous lockdowns until everyone has been vaccinated. We're a bit like yourself and Bill, lockdowns don't bother us much, lots to keep us busy at home. I'm glad you can still take your walks ✨

  15. We're in our.. 6th week of lockdown? I've lost count. I'm pretty happy sitting at home too. Allows more time to find new content to visit for when lockdown ends. We'll be moving to QLD in Feb though and I wonder how much of Syd I'll actually get to explore at this rate lol.

  16. Take Courage! FWIW, I believe you’ll beat this thing before the USA will because everyone where you are seems to take lockdown and other precautions seriously. That isn’t happening (and won’t) here. We have soooo many stupid selfish people who refuse to believe in science. If it weren’t so sad it would be funny! . …. I agree walks in nature are wonderful and life affirming and we need that.

  17. WE have just started to open up here and now there are fears we may have a new wave. I wear my mask everywhere just so I can protect those I encounter. We are advised to cut the elastic on the masks so that water birds do not get trapped in it.

  18. I am wondering if COVID is ever going to go away but I hope they learn to control it!
Lovely set of photos. Sorry I have not been visiting, I just seem to be extra busy. I am taking photos but not much time to go through them!
    Keep safe t'other Diane
