I'm probably biased but I think Brisbane is a beautiful city.
New Farm Park roads are lined with Jacaranda trees. We were lucky to find a parking spot even at 9:00am but it was a Sunday and there was a charity run event on too. The park covers 38 acres and was opened in 1919. It includes picnic areas, cricket pitches, croquet and football fields.

Jacaranda is a native to Central America, South America, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and the Bahamas. It has been introduced to most tropical and subtropical countries. It is common in South Africa and Australia.
We drove to New Farm Park and then caught the City Cat to the city.

Hello, the Jacaranda blooms are just gorgeous. Beautiful trees. Love the view of the city!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
Our Jacaranda bloom so much later that yours. They are quite some tree. I am puzzled as to how you get to New Farm Park from the south and catch the ferry. The Clem 7? Is that the best way for suburban residents to get to the city?
ReplyDeleteI have seen them in Portugal, they look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, Brisbane is a lovely city :)
ReplyDeleteThose Jacarandas do make a pretty show.
it most certainly is a beautiful city and I love the Jacaranda, we have them here to. these are awesome photos of yours and my favorite is the one with the lamp pole in it.
ReplyDeleteWow ! These trees !!! How beautiful ! The high buildings I like less, I am allergic to these glass boxes !
ReplyDeleteHow I miss Jacarandas, Salisbury, Rhodesia was full of them and we had one street that was white, blue, white, blue down the full length. We had a white jacaranda in our garden when we left and I was loathe to leave it behind! Of course Pretoria in RSA is also called the Jacaranda city. Have a good week t'other Diane
ReplyDeleteI adore those trees, though I have only seen them in bloom in Madeira.
ReplyDeleteThat tree is lovely and it's in my favorite color too, Diane. That last shot of Riverside Place was beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful series of captures Diane - the Jacaranda sure is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteSo now I've seen Jacaranda trees. How unusual and lovely! I'm glad you showed a close-up too so we could see the shape of the blossoms!
ReplyDeleteThe trees are gorgeous. They grow down in south Florida - Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas. It gets too cool here in Central Florida. Oh, I wish I could have one!
ReplyDeleteYou're right -- Brisbane is a beautiful city, as are the Jacaranda trees.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I haven't been to Brisbane, but I am sure it is a fantastic city!
ReplyDeleteThe jacarandas are glorious Diane, I'm not sure if they're flowering here yet. Brisbane looks about the same size as Perth from your cityscape here, a nice sized city! Loved your shots of St. John's Cathedral last post, it's amazing how long you can live somewhere and never get to see everything ☺
ReplyDeleteOh dear. For 10 years at this time I would be admiring the beauty of the Jacoranda Trees up our drive and on the streets of Napier (New Zealand). I miss that. Ho hum.
ReplyDeleteWhy not this year?
DeleteMy double life ended a two years ago for medical reasons primarily. Last winter (Scotland's) I just went for six weeks and this coming summer (yours) too much is happening, I no longer have The Cottage and The Family is moving house.
DeleteThat is a shame but I guess we all slow down eventually. Those long haul flights are a killer.
DeleteThose trees are just glorious! I'm wondering if they smell as beautiful as they look.
ReplyDeleteThey don't have a strong perfume. Just eye candy.
DeleteWow - you sure are looking pretty as a picture up Brissie way, we've had a chilly Spring down here!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Those trees are magnificent! Spring is beautiful there and you have every right to thank so obviously!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning trees!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe extraordinary color of the Jacaranda, adds beauty to images.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Spain
I agree, Brisbane is a beautiful city. And nothing speaks of home more than the jacarandas. Thanks for the link about seeking my mojo. I'm trying the three photos a day challenge. I think it is working already.
ReplyDeleteDown here in Melbourne it will be a while before the Jacarandas flower. They do put on a good show.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Gorgeous... Loved seeing the Jacarandas... Purple has always been a favorite color... BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful trip (or trips) lately... I'm sure you are enjoying some SPRING down there. We are going into winter --but so far, with our heat and drought, it still feels like SUMMER up here. ha
Hugs,
Betsy
These are amazing photos of the lovely trees. I see them now and again here in New Zealand, but never so many together.
ReplyDeleteAh yes. There is nothing quite like Brisbanes display in Sydney though we do try.
