QUEEN MARY FALLS

When we drove home from Tenterfield a few weeks ago we went on the back roads and stopped at  Daggs Falls and Queen Mary Falls.


 Daggs Falls are accessible by road. Just a few metres from the car park there is a lookout.

We drove on through beautiful mountain scenery to Queen Mary Falls. Before hiking down to the falls we had a coffee in the cafe. Outside the cafe you could feed the wild parrots by hand.

 The track passes close to the foot of the falls. 

Then we started to climb up the other side of the valley  on a circuit track back to the picnic grounds and cafe.

 Then we crossed a bridge over the top of the falls.

And back to where we started. It was a lovely hike.

 We drove on to Spring Creek cafe for lunch. It is perched on the side of the mountain in the middle of nowhere.

The views were breathtaking and the lunch delicious.  My header photo was taken from here too.

I am going away on a trip to Cairns, Darwin and Adelaide tomorrow. I am trying to learn how to blog on my mini iPad. Please forgive me if I don't get to your blogs for a few weeks. I will probably stick to Facebook while I'm away and blog about the trip when I get back.

    Great virtual tour, love the back roads they are so much more interesting. Your new header is fab.

    Hello, gorgeous shots of the waterfalls. The wild parrots are lovely too. I would love to visit this falls and the cafe. The views are beautiful. Have a happy weekend!

    What gorgeous photos of your hike. That is quite the scenic place. Have fun on your trip! I also tried to blog on my iPad while we were at the beach - I don't like the Blogger app so didn't get one posted.

    I can't think of a better way to break up a trip than stopping to do some hiking and see a waterfall. You saw a real beauty. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    That's quite the round trip you are embarking upon!! I find it impossible to blog from my tablet so wish you good luck with that. Thanks so much for including the map. I don't know those falls but nearly always have a trip to Boonah when I am back home and they aren't much further to go so I will put them on my wishlist for my next holiday. Happy travels!

    Beautiful scenery. That is a rather big distance you are going to travel. But we did the same once by bus in 4 weeks, starting in Darwin and all the way down ending in Sydney.

    Gorgeous falls, pretty hike to see them....the birds were so pretty they didn't look real! Blogging from old iPad is pretty easy for me but visiting other blogs is not easy?? Just wait, no hurry 😀

    I love waterfalls -- my favorite hike destination back in the Oregon and around there (not here in Florida). All of the pictures from this hike are amazing -- Look forward to more of the same when you return from your trip. Have a wonderful time.
