We have made it to 44 years. We were married in Pt Moresby, P/NG and we do not have any decent wedding photos the photographer was hopeless. However, we have our memories.
In the early days of dating. We are in the beer garden of the RSL Club on Ela Beach in Pt Moresby. |
I was so happy to have met this cute young man with a Swiss accent in November '68.
We were married 6 months later, friends said it wouldn't last and here we are 44 years later still going strong.
The wedding reception at The Purple Parrot Restaurant. Hee hee is that a prawn cocktail I can see-sooo 6o's. |
I could rather go a prawn cocktail. It has been years.
ReplyDeleteWell done to both of you.
Congratulations! Happy Anniversary! Those are great photos to have. Beautiful! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both. It's a long time to be married, and as you say you have your memories and they don't fade. We were married very young and just passed our 48th.
ReplyDeleteBlimey!
ReplyDeleteEating ... drinking ... goodo .. I will even overlook the RSL club ...
Onya both!
congratulations to you both Diane - you sure were a fabulous looking couple way back then, no wonder you snapped one another up in a hurry. Enjoy many more years together; well done
ReplyDeleteWhat a classy looking couple .... Congratulations to you both I'm sure you have many happy memories and they said it woukdn't last!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making 44 years. Happy Anniversary. Prawn cocktails were THE entre back then. Still love one nowdays.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you both. I know that you will have a lovely Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteWe, too, were constantly advised that our marriage would not work and, like you, were married in a country foreign to me. It's now 46 years ago. No prawn cocktails though - just prawn curry! All the best for another great year!
There was barely a restaurant to be found in Moresby when I lived there 10 or more years later. I wonder what it 's like now.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do make an attractive couple both then and now.
Happy Anniversary. You were both adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd still are, I might add.
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, this looks so cute, so long ago. Great photo's and congratulations, next month we reach the 43 years. And you are so right about the prawn coacktail, it was even here very popular, those sixties.....
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Diane I am so glad you proved them all wrong you are such a cute loving couple. Hug B
ReplyDeletewow. how absolutely awesome! congratulations to you both!
ReplyDeleteAwww Happy Anniversary and you too are still as cute today as you were then! I laugh at your comment about the accent, funny how many of us American gals will fall for an Aussie accent! LOL
ReplyDeletecongratulations, and i would rather see that first candid shot better than wedding pics. it is so real and it says it all, two people in love...
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, Diane and Bill! 44 years is a wonderful accomplishment, and I hope you are celebrating in style. I love your haircut in these photos, Diane. Very pretty. The prawn cocktails are very 60s but my Musician still enjoys them.
ReplyDeleteoooh, happy, happy anniversary!!
ReplyDeletecongratulations to you both!
big hugs~
p.s. i linked to you today!
Happy 44th Anniversary Diane and Bill! What a wonderful life you've shared together and many more exciting times and adventures are ahead for you. I still regret I did not get a chance to meet you both when you were in NYC. If you ever come out to the Denver area of Colorado, or if we ever get out to Brisbane I hope to meet you in person then!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your special celebrations!
Happy anniversary, Diane and Bill. You were both cute then and are still. Seeing you there is like looking at Sonja! Enjoy your weekend and have a great celebration.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you!! :-) People really should keep their negative comments to themselves. 44 years just proves them wrong.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sandra - wedding photos are rarely as interesting as those that capture more "real" moments.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you both!
Exciting! Happy Anniversary Diane, those are great photos. Funny, they said Gregg and I would never last either but here we are, 37 years later ;)
