FASHION OF THE FIELDS COMPETITION WON WITH $18 DRESS

FASHIONS on the Field winner Jaydee Paino wore an $18 dress with a horse print she bought online from Nashville to claim a large slice of the $400,000 prize pool and a luxury car.
"My inspiration was the 1950s. I love the Mad Menstyle and the ladylike glamour. I think it's so appropriate for a day at the races," the Queensland nurse said.

The Melbourne Cup Ladies Day was held yesterday. It includes The Fashion of the Field fashion competition. This year it was won with an on line dress for $18, while hundreds of other hopefuls would have spent thousands on their dresses. I think that is funny and good on Jaydee for pulling it off. She's a Queensland girl too. He he.
It certainly turned into an international Spring Carnival with an American bred horse, trained in France and owned by Australians winning the cup and a dress from Nashville, TN wins the fashion competition.

  2. It just goes to show that style is a matter of how your pull it off not the cost.

  4. I didn't see this. It is a great story and proves the judges aren't just looking out for the name designers and everyone has a chance.
    Good for QLD!!

  6. Love the style of the dress and the other photos you took the day of the race. It has to be quite like our Kentucky Derby with all the hats and interesting clothes.

Your blog still does not show up in my followers section. I will have to bookmark it so it does not get lost.

  7. She OWNS that outfit. Lovely girl. She is wearing the outfit, not letting the outfit wear her! Glad she won.

  13. Absolutely right, it shows it is not the expense of the dress but the ingenuity to find the right dress.

  15. That's very nice ! I always say it's easy to dress chic and expensive, but chic and cheap is another story !
Some women spend 1000 of € or $ just to look like potatoe bags or scarecrows !

  16. Since I live in Tennessee, I was delighted to see a dress from Nashville win the competition. I think Jaydee struck the perfect pose to show the dress off.

  17. Just shows, you don't need money to have style. Congratulations to Jaydee; she looks like an extrovert girl and deserved to win. I scrolled down and read with interest about the Melbourne cup. I love blogging. I learn about so many things and places I've not seen before. I love that you and Bill celebrated in grand style at home. Grant and I often do That's what I like about being "mature". You can do idiotic things together with your beloved and they turn out so special. Have a lovely day. Jo
